There are 3 to 4 trigger hairs found inside a Venus flytrap. For it to close either 2 different trigger hairs or 1 trigger hair have to be moved in a 20 second period. The insect’s movement inside the trap continues to touch the hairs, serving to signal for the trap to close completely. Once the trap closes completely, the leaves form an airtight seal so digestive fluids are kept inside the trap.

Does a Venus flytrap eat worms?

Yes! When the worm crawls into the trap it touches the trigger hairs and the trap closes. The worm tries to get out and 2 minutes later, the worm dies.

Does a Venus flytrap bite a human finger?

A Venus flytrap does bite a human finger! When you put your finger in the trap, the trap closes, but it does not hurt. It takes 1 minute for it to close. You can pull your finger out of the trap. If you feed your skin to a Venus flytrap it will die and turn into dust!
